Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySec)The CySEC is the financial regulatory authority in the Republic of Cyprus. CySEC oversees the local securities market and ensures compliance with CySEC regulations to keep the markets efficient, fair and transparent. As part of the European MiFID (Markets in Financial Instruments Directive) regulation, a CySEC license also enables trading in all EU countries.

CySEC’s main responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out inspections of companies, brokers, brokerage firms, investment consultants and mutual fund management companies
  • Granting operation licenses to investment firms, which also includes investment consultants, brokerage firms and brokers
  • Imposing administrative sanctions and disciplinary penalties to brokers, brokerage firms, investment consultants and any other legal or person who fall under the provisions of the Stock Market legislation.
